Flolloper –
4050+i7+32GB+1TB here. The screen is bad (colour/contrast wise) and the sound is worse, but I’m using this as a desktop replacement so I don’t care about either of those things. Connected to my 48 inch TV it won’t push 4K 60 in most new AAA games unless it’s on lower settings, 1440 or lower you’re good to go though depending on the game (Hogwarts Legacy and Cyberpunk both look great. Even Jedi Survivor runs better than on my Xbox. Newest game I’ve played is AC Mirage and that’s tougher to run but still does fine considering.) Yes the fans can get loud, but their speed is configurable, and if you’re putting strain on the components then what do you expect? Again as I’m using this as a desktop replacement the laptop itself isn’t directly in front of me so the noise is much less of an issue. One thing to note is that the vents are on the bottom, so if you’re using this on your lap or on a desk, be aware that without some sort of cooling stand or riser you’re actually blocking much of that air exchange, forcing the fans to work harder (and thus get louder). The version I bought didn’t come with a bag or mouse so I can’t review those. The price hasn’t gone up though so that should tell you something about the quality of them. The laptop itself is considerably more ‘gamer-y’ than I was looking for, but I can deal with it for the price. The backlight on the keyboard isn’t very consistent but it is bright enough and full RGB, and the keyboard itself has a lovely typing experience with very satisfying key travel. The trackpad is functional but bad. It will get you around the BIOS but please use an external one.Same goes for the speakers… and the screen…The rest of the build quality is fantastic though, and they call it ‘tuf’ for good reason. If I dropped this on something, I would probably be more worried about whatever I dropped it on, cus it’s very solidly built and compact.I am having a few issues with the WiFi (nothing major), but if it’s the same as a previous model I owned then both the WiFi card and RAM are replaceable. I haven’t had reason to check on this model though, sorry. It’s very obvious where they cheaped out on this thing though, and that is 100% reflected in the price. For even a low specced gaming laptop with an OLED screen, great speakers and a half decent webcam, you’re looking at about this price (£1300), so add another 400-500 for a good one on sale. And if you have that sort of money then it’s worth paying the extra, however if you’re on a budget or already have a screen you like then this coupled with an HDMI cable and mouse/keyboard/gamepad is gonna give you the same experience. Also, as someone with VERY bad eyesight, an inch or two of screen real estate is not important most of the time. If they made 20 inch or bigger laptops then it would be different, but buy the size that you can fit into your bag and save a few hundred quid.
